I don’t think most people realize how many tiny steps happen before a necklace becomes “ready to wear.” When you see the final piece, it looks simple — polished gold, a clean pendant shape, a snowflake charm that sparkles just enough. But behind it is a long chain of decisions: how thick should the pendant be? how should the snowflake sit so it doesn’t look childish? where should the stones go so it sparkles, but still feels minimal? So today I wanted to share something personal: how this snowflake pendant necklace was actually made, from the first idea to the final product. Not a perfect glossy story. The real one. The First Idea: Why a Snowflake? The snowflake concept started from a simple thought: Snowflakes are delicate, but they’re also strong. And no two are exactly the same. I liked that. I didn’t want it to feel like “Christmas jewelry”. I wanted it to feel modern and wearable, even in spring or summer, something that can match a blazer, a sweater, or just a simple tee. So the first rule I set: the snowflake must look clean and minimal, not overly decorative. Sketch → Blueprint: Making the Idea Wearable Designing jewelry is not only about drawing something pretty. A necklace is going to sit on someone’s body. It will touch skin, hair, fabric. It will move when you walk. So after sketching, I start thinking like a problem solver: Will the edges be too sharp? Will it flip over when worn? Is the charm too heavy? Does the pendant look balanced from different angles? This is the part where the design becomes a blueprint and honestly, this is where most designs fail. Because an idea can look great on paper… but feel wrong when it becomes a real object. The Hardest Part: The Snowflake Charm The snowflake charm is the most delicate part of the necklace. If the lines are too thick, it loses elegance. If the lines are too thin, it becomes weak and looks cheap. So this part takes time. A lot of tiny changes that most people will never notice but your eyes feel it when something is “high quality.” That’s what craftsmanship is to me: you don’t always see the work, but you feel the difference.  Turning Design Into Reality Once the design is confirmed, the pendant base and snowflake charm are made and shaped. At this stage, it still doesn’t look luxurious yet. It looks like an unfinished piece. But this is when I check the important things Is the snowflake positioned correctly? Does the charm sit cleanly on the pendant? Is the overall silhouette elegant? The necklace has to look good both close up and from a distance.  Stone Setting  Where the Necklace “Comes Alive” I love this part. When the tiny stones are added, it’s like the necklace gets its personality. Not too much sparkle just a quiet glow. Stone setting is delicate: it must be secure (stones shouldn’t loosen easily) it must be clean (no messy metal edges) it must stay comfortable (not catching on fabric) I know it sounds technical, but this is where quality really shows. Polishing & Finishing If you’ve ever held two similar necklaces, you’ll know this truth: \ Polishing is what separates expensive from cheap. A good finish feels smooth and clean. The light reflects softly. Edges look crisp not rough. This is honestly my favorite moment when the necklace finally looks like what I imagined on day one. The Final Piece When everything comes together — pendant, charm, stones, polish — that’s when the necklace feels complete. This snowflake pendant ended up being exactly what I wanted: ✨ minimal ✨ elegant ✨ meaningful ✨ wearable beyond the season How I’d Style It (Simple & Real) If you’re wondering how to wear it, here are the easiest combos: white tee + blazer (clean and modern) sweater / turtleneck (best for winter) dress or v-neck top (elegant and soft) It also looks great layered with a thin chain but even alone, it’s enough.
